Modelling effects of transient FGR in LWR fuel rods during a LOCA

Outcomes of an activity on development and verification models for Fission Gas Release in Light-Water Reactor fuels during Loss-of-Coolant Accidents are described. The GRSW-A model the FALCON code is extended to simulate processes fuel fragmentation concomitant transient Release. FRELAX redesigned with a view simulation bulk flow diffusion gases rod free volume. Finally, close coupling updated codes set up, referred as F2F coupled system, due which two being exchanging data their simultaneous analysis. Three Halden LOCA experiments, IFA-650.12/13/14, using irradiated Swiss Leibstadt NPP high level burnup analyzed system. Overall, results calculation selected three tests IFA-650 series good agreement, or conservative comparison data.
